Virginia Doellgast: There are a lot of examples historically of how workers have responded to new technologies. The following is an edited transcript of their conversation. Doellgast said the union’s efforts to contain the harm of AI echo past labor struggles with new technology. Marketplace’s Meghan McCarty Carino spoke with Virginia Doellgast, a professor at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. It’s a concern that is popping up more and more across a number of different industries as the implications of this technology come into focus. The WGA has pushed for guardrails on the use of new generative AI tools like ChatGPT, which are trained on vast amounts of human-made creative work and could, some fear, end up replacing it. At issue is how writers get paid for streaming content and the role of artificial intelligence in the creative process. Last week, those negotiations failed and the screenwriters went on strike. That’s right! The state of Germany is financially supporting the development of the Project Terra prototype! Yay! Tax money well spend.Disruptive technology is at the heart of the contentious negotiations between the Writers Guild of America and studios, networks and streaming services. We’ll talk more about the new project within the next few months. It doesn’t look much like a game yet, but we’ll get there! Right now, we’re mostly working on tools. NO MORE! #gamedev #HTML5 #theGameThatStillNeedsAProperTitle /KDfiLir1pV In #CrossCode I always had to restart the game to position UI elements. Graphics are just placeholders! #gamedev #indiedev #HTML5 /tbzP1Ma2Zx Recently I've been busy working on the editors for the next project (that still needs a proper hashtag). Here I show some of our options on some randomized lights! We have a lot of control over every light to create different moods and sceneries! /O5EGdtuBjs I wanna show something I worked on a while back for #ProjectTerra as well: Lighting! Here's a WIP sneak peak of #ProjectThatNeedsAHashtag's aesthetic and rendering. Working on some nice water effects for our next project □□□ /QwCWSFXYND Here are a few impressions you might have seen recently on twitter: Project Terra will be an Action-RPG, with a gameplay mix similar to CrossCode, featuring a new setting and story line! That games doesn’t have a proper name yet, but it does have a temporary project title: We’re currently in the prototyping phase for our next game. We definitely had a great time working on this title and see the world and its characters grow.īut after 9 whole years, we are ready to work on something new. Right now, there are no plans for a sequel to CrossCode. We sort of regret adding that cutscene, because the truth is: We noticed that several players are now counting on a sequel to be developed, especially due to a certain cutscene in A New Home. That means, after over 9 years of development, CrossCode has finally been completed! What about CrossCode 2? This update is pretty much the final content addition to CrossCode! With following releases we only plan to fix remaining bugs and issues. Here a few impressions of what’s included:Īctual boss enemies can be properly seen in the game! Note that the new content is part of the A New Home DLC and not included in the main game. Version 1.4.1 includes 3 quests as well as a couple of arena cups and new Trade Offers in Rhombus Square. This update includes a bit of optional content that we originally hoped to released a month ago, but didn’t quite manage to finish in time. So… we’re not entirely done yet! Today we’ll release another small update for the DLC Crosscode: A New Home, adding a bit of more optional content!
